Getting started

What’s new in Duzlo 2.0

A complete overhaul of how content is distributed, discovered, and rewarded on Duzlo.

Before this update, creators manually launched campaigns for new content and each campaign had a fixed budget and expiration date. Clippers would submit posts to the campaign and receive their locked-in RPM, paid hourly for new views.

Problem #1

We discovered early on that creators couldn’t be burdened with launching new campaigns each week for new content.

Our temporary solution was to operate as an agency and whiteglove it, which limited our ability to onboard an infinite amount of new creators.

Problem #2

Some creators publish multiple pieces of content each week, but not all content is worth dedicating an entire budget to.

Our temporary solution was to list multiple pieces of content in a single campaign brief, but it was messy.

Problem #3

Historically, when a piece of content went viral, it became an unhealthy race to see whose posts gained traction before the budget ran out. This meant posts that took a few days to gain traction were sometimes not rewarded for the majority of their views when campaigns sold out quickly.

Solving these three problems has been the core focus of this update and now after ~6 months of development, we’re confident we have built a system that solves them all.

A New Way to Get Paid

Previously, clippers received a fixed RPM, and new views were rewarded hourly until the budget ran out. To support continuous clipping and a full 7 day earning window, we are introducing an entirely new system with adaptive rewards.

How It Works

Once approved, your submission can earn for up to 7 days from the moment it was published, even after the content stops accepting new submissions. Instead of paying all new views at once, our new adaptive rewards system intelligently distributes rewards across active submissions over time based on their individual performance and average RPM relative to other active submissions.

Payments can occur as frequently as every minute for submissions with high view velocity, but will stop once earnings reach a level where continued payments would be unfair relative to other active submissions.

This approach ensures the full lifecycle of a post is taken into account, which the previous system did not account for.

Live RPM Estimate

The RPM shown on a piece of content is a live estimate based on what active submissions are earning and will fluctuate over time, so your final rate may vary.

Opportunity Score

Each piece of content now displays an Opportunity Score. This score is a holistic estimate based on factors like current RPM and content virality. Even when RPM is lower or declining, strong virality can still present meaningful earning opportunities.

This score is designed to help clippers identify content with higher earning potential based on virality and spend, even when RPM is lower or declining. For creators, it guides them on where additional spend through Boosts may be effective.

Complexity

We understand this new reward system may be less straightforward than the previous one, but after using it for a couple of weeks, we believe it will become obvious that it is more fair, efficient, and transparent. The previous system appeared more predictable with a fixed RPM, but actual earnings were never guaranteed when campaigns sold out while views were still climbing.

As with any system of this complexity, there are several levers we will continue to refine over time. Expect ongoing improvements as we observe how it performs in real usage.

Rollout Plan

Phase 1: Core Changes

The following core changes have been released as part of the first phase:

  • Migrate existing campaigns to individual content
  • Replace individual budgets with weekly spend limits
  • Creators to add content sources for auto-import
  • Creators to add payment methods for credit top-ups
  • Replace the old reward system with the new one
  • Introduction of Boosts and Opportunity Scores
  • Introduction of Duzlo Channels
  • Submission details to show its rank and earning period
  • Updated discover page
  • Dashboard for creators to manage channels, content, billing, etc.
  • Approved creators can launch new channels
  • Ability for multiple users to manage a single channel

Coming Soon

Additional improvements to look forward to in the near future:

  • Integrate additional automated content sources (e.g. Kick & Twitch)
  • New dashboard for clippers to track their individual performance across content
  • New dashboard for withdrawals, referrals, etc.
  • Improve clarity on when a submission has a low priority score
  • Ability to submit posts in bulk without copying links
  • Algorithmic improvements to content on the Discover page
  • Improve content discovery for high frequency creators
  • Ability to subscribe to creators and view those channels on your sidebar
  • Notification system for alerts on new content, submission rejections, etc.

The Outcome

The outcome of these changes is a system that can scale to support an unlimited number of creators, bringing more content and more earning opportunities for you. Funds will be distributed more fairly, and the average clipper should earn more than under the previous system. Over time, creator spend is also expected to increase due to greater transparency into how additional spend drives better results.

The Bottom Line

The days of Duzlo acting as a “clipping agency” are over.

We’ve evolved into something far more scalable.
